Surprise!

Well, as you all can see from my little side bar edition, we are expecting number two. We are not sure of the exact due date, because this really was a complete surprise, but the estimated day is November 22. However, I could be anywhere from 11-13 weeks right now, so the doctor is estimating the 13 week time table. We found out at the first of April and are very excited. So far this pregnancy hasn't been too bad. I felt much sicker with Afton, but that could also be because I know a little bit more about what to expect. As long as I am eating, constantly, I feel pretty good. I am exhausted, and don't sleep well at night, but I get a nap about every other day, so it's not too bad. Afton has been a trooper letting Mommy lounge by day and play with her at night. I love spending time with her. She's a special child and has already blessed my life more than I could have imagined. I'm excited to see what it's like the second time around. We both think it's a boy, but then again, that's what we thought about Afton. If it is we are open to any suggestions for names. We like Gabriel, but who knows. We don't get a ultrasound until we're about 20 weeks, to find out the gender, because I'm too far along to get a beginning one. I was a little sad about that but oh well. We changed doctors to a Dr. Prince. Leah had him when she was pregnant and loved him. I feel very comfortable with him. He is a family doctor so the baby can see him as well. Afton and I leave for Georgia in about a week and when we come back I'll have an appointment the next day. Then from there it's to week 20. I've got a slight pooch, but I don't think anyone else can tell. Luckily! We'll keep you updated!

More updates

Well, yesterday was a busy day for me and I was feeling like it is time to "clean up this flippin' place." So I rearranged the living room, vacuumed our stained carpet, did the dishes, swept and mopped the kitchen and entry way, (even though I'll probably have to do that again today or tomorrow) and did laundry. Tad was asked to work full-time until they get another HR assistant later on in May, so I had plenty of time for that. Poor Afton. I was doing the dishes and feeding her lunch at the same time, however, the dishes got a little more attention than the lunch feeding. I went to clean the counters and table and when I turned back around she had fallen asleep in her high chair. My visiting teachers came over bringing their little girls with them and so Afton slept about 30 min. total. Oh well, she slept till 8:30 this morning. It was great. I'm quite proud of myself. I also scoured the bathroom about a week ago, so all that's left is our room, which I'm sad to say never gets any cleaning attention since Tad and I are the only ones that see it. One day.

Tad is applying to jobs everywhere. He's had a couple offers with insurance or financial sales type companies, but I don't really feel like that's what he would be happy with. He is going down to Austin, Texas to make some contacts there, courtesy of his brother Scott. We are so grateful for family. I think we've been able to spend more time together now that we have in our whole marriage because of the job that he has. (Before the full-time thing.) We were trying to remember what it was like before we had Afton, and realized we were both full-time students and both of us worked at different times so we never saw each other. That's why it seems like there wasn't a time before Afton.

Afton and I will be heading down to Georgia in about three and a half weeks for Leisha's wedding. Weird?! For some reason I expected to be the only one married for a while. We are so excited and can't wait. In the meantime, I spend my day with the cutest baby, I guess she's not really a baby anymore, the cutest little toddler. I'm getting a little tired of the "shishee" movie (Finding Nemo), but have unsuccessfully been able to transfer her attention to any other disney/pixar movie. She gets completely mesmerized by it, which reminds me how much she is like her daddy. She loves to go outside and lets me know she's ready by walking up to me and saying "bye-bye" and then walking to the door. She doesn't like grass, but she loves to walk around. I've been teaching her some words (shoes, cheese, juice) and some more sign language. She already knows "more," "thank you," and "please," so now we are working on Mommy, Daddy, Grandma, Grandpa, and drink. She learns things so fast. When I was loading the dryer yesterday I was letting her play with a sponge I had cleaned. I turned around and she was scrubbing the floor with it. Then when I grabbed her hand to go outside, she walked out, put the sponge on the sidewalk and started scrubbing that too. I guess all this desire to clean will come in handy when she's older. (I think it's the "Clean-up" song we sing that gives her inspiration.) She loves to brush her teeth. She shows me who Jesus is and loves to sing, especially if she gets to bounce on mommy's lap. Anyway, I love being home with her and watching her learn and grow. It's a good life.

Here's some pictures from easter and other things. Okay I'll post the pictures later.

Afton's Musical Talent

So recently Afton discovered this new toy and loves it. She walks around the house whistling her own little tunes. I love it! This was right after Easter dinner and we had Tad's brother, Russell, over and a friend from the ward, whose wife is gone visiting family, so they're in the background making more noise. Anyway, enjoy!

Happy Easter!

Life with Us

Well, Afton is about the only thing I post about these days so...I have more. Can I just tell you how much fun she is. This morning Tad and I were playing a game and we looked over at Afton, who was playing on her toy piano, and she was doing a little boogie dance. I wish I had had enough time to get it on camera, but she realized that we were laughing at her and ceased the dancing. Oh well. I love being able to spend so much time with her. She makes me laugh, smile, and wonder at what I did to be blessed with such a little girl. (My other thought is what else is in store for me with our other children?) Here are some pictures! Well, the internet is being a toot so here is one and I will post others soon!

Oh and the weather here was amazing.....................until I looked out the window this morning and saw a fresh set of snow on the ground. Love it! Tad and I have just been getting as much time in with Joe and Leah as possible. We're all waiting for little Lucci to come. (Her actual name will most likely be Namoi, but at the moment we prefer little Lucci.) Tad and Russell have been selected out of some students here to sing in the choir for the Priesthood session of General Conference, so they have practices every Sunday. Tad's been sending out resume's like crazy and we're just waiting for something to come along. He works a lot as well and they recently drove us out to Fruitland, ID for some telephone stuff for Tad to do. Apparently, he has an amazing voice. It was quite the trip and made me think of how much I don't want to stay in Idaho any longer than needed. I love Rexburg, but I think it's about time.

Me, I am just chillin'. I have been trying to improve my crafty abilities and make our home a little more homey. I have tried some new recipes and loved this most recent one with sweet pork and cilantro-lime slaw. I'm not a big slaw fan, but this was the most delicious thing I've ever tasted. If you want the recipe, there is a link to the Make-it-and-Love-it blog and she has it posted there. I would put it but Ashley's blog has very yummy-looking pictures of it too, which I don't have. I got a little hair-cut, so now I can grow my hair out at the same length. I've been doing a biggest loser program in our Relief Society. It's week five and I have lost 2 pounds and 2 inches. I'm lovin' it. Well, that's the skinny on us.

Congratulations Andrea on the new baby! That's so exciting! Aren't they amazing!?

Promised Pictures

This is the pacifier clip that I made. Cute, huh?

These are the two nursing covers that I made. I put a pocket on the inside so you can put cloths or whatever in them.

This is the grocery bag holder. I just used the leftover material from the nursing covers and it turned out pretty good! (Thanks Ashley for all the good ideas!)

Afton and Conner, having fun on her toy. Conner tends to get a little too cuddly for Afton's taste.

Afton, trying to escape in nothin' but her onesie!

Just a random post

Well, Afton is napping and Tad is at work so I decided I better post something before it's two weeks later and I don't want to post all of the old stuff. Actually, not much is happening, but oh well, I'll let ya in on the little bit that is.

First of all, I bought myself a sewing machine and have been doing a project a day ever since I got it. I can't help myself. I realized that I'm not very good at letting something go if it isn't completely done, so hence the project a day thing. I have made two nursing covers, which I am very proud of. I saw a few sisters in the ward with some and thought to myself, "Those are probably pretty easy to make." They were, and I'm not the best seamstress so they didn't turn out looking professional, but they turned out. I've also made a pacifier clip for Afton, and a grocery bag holder. My next project is a tutu for Afton. All of these ideas I have gotten from my friend Ashley, who's blog link is on the side of my blog. She's super creative and makes things easy for those of us who aren't professionals. On top of trying to be all "Becky-home-ecky," a group of sisters in our Relief Society have started a Biggest Loser program. It's been interesting so far. I've been getting workout videos from the library, but haven't done much more than that. Then I went the to group and have been keeping track of my calories, and going to an Abs that Rock class on campus. It's been tough, but hopefully, I get that baby belly off and my love handles won't be as lovable after this. It's a 12 week program, so I'm excited to see how I do. Some sisters have already been losing inches/pounds, so that's uplifting. Other than that, that's my life, besides babysitting and spending every day with the best baby in the world. She's so sweet, except when she hits, and I am so grateful to have that little cutie in my life. (So Grammy and Grampy, you can't have her quite yet. Maybe when she's 15!) Oh, and trying to weasel my way into becoming my sisters wedding planner. Not really, but I try to do some of the work. It's just a little exciting that I'll no longer be the only married Jensen. (By the way, Jaunty Jensens, you need to post something new and put up some pictures of that ring!)

Afton is doing well. She's getting bigger and starting to realize that she can stand on her own, but doesn't feel quite comfortable with going more that a few seconds long. She's made some friends and loves to make messes, especially with her oatmeal. This morning Tad was wonderful and got up with her so I could sleep a little bit longer. He was feeding her some oatmeal, and apparently as he turned she spit the big glob that was in her mouth into her hand. As he turned back around, she smiled and smeared it all over her face and hair. She loved it because that meant it was tub-tub time. She's also been pretending that she can read. Well, I'm sure in her mind she can read, but to us it's so cute when she sits down with a book that's upside down and mutters unintelligible words, then turns the page and continues. Her favorite book recently is Tootle, which is a Little Golden Book about a train. It used to be daddy's Humanities book but after she tore the back cover we had to hide it from her. We took her to the doctor for her 1year check-up a little bit ago and she's just as tall and skinny as ever. What surprised me was her head. I know it's a small head, compared to others but she's in the 2 percentile for her head. (16.8") I came home and told Tad and the first thing he said was, "She doesn't get that from me!" We love our small-headed baby girl!

Tad has been busy as ever. His group in his capstone class has been working on a project for Idaho National Labratory on some agricultural product. It's kept him busy because a few of his team members are little overloaded and don't have much time for that class. He's also been quite an asset to the company he works for now. He has been in the same position, but the other co-worker who works the morning shift is a little less able. She doesn't really take initiative and leaves a lot of work for Tad to fix up when he gets in. The other workers usually come to him with projects that they could have given to her, but knew that Tad would do a better job. So it's a catch 22, because that usually means late hours and more work, but some really great references when we need them. Next weekend, we are headed to Boise for this company to their corporate office, because they want Tad to be the "voice" of the company. Since he speaks both english and spanish, and apparently has such a great voice, they've asked him to do the recordings for them. It'll be a nice little get away for him and we'll be able to check out the area. He's been sending out some resume's to quite a few companies so we are getting ready to make a big move. There's a good prospect in Portland, but we'll have to look more into it. Joe and Leah, Tad's cousin and his wife have been trying to recruit us to go to Washington, so we can be near them. At this point, I'm okay with whatever, as long as we have a secure-ish job, a home, and near an airport.

So that's the update. I gues it was a little bit longer than I thought. Oh well. I'm charging the batteries for the camera, so as soon as that is done, I'll post some pictures. Love ya all!
